The non-payment of food for children in single-parent families is a widespread and frequent phenomenon, both in Argentina and in the region. The maintenance obligation of the parents towards the children is established in national and international legislation, and non-compliance by a father is conceived as a form of gender violence: economic and patrimonial violence.

The lack of payment of Food generates a notable deterioration in the quality of life of the family group, causing the feminization of poverty, that is, the predominance of women with respect to men in the impoverished population, with a worsening of their conditions of life. Day by day, we accompany hundreds of women who defend the rights of their children and denounce non-compliance with the child support fee.

Non-payment of Food is a crime. It is a phenomenon documented throughout the world. However, it is made invisible by patriarchal justice. We need a State that persecutes those who fail to comply, so that they stop being unpunished; that it sanction this form of violence instead of perpetuating it; and that guarantees the rights of children.
