Given the global situation of this particular year, we decided to continue our work remotely.
We modify our face-to-face care, in a warm, comfortable, safe and neutral space, to virtual care.
It was a great challenge to transfer all that warmth that we handled naturally in our physical space, onto the screen.
We did it!
This is what we did during 2020

This particular year we have seen an increase in demand for our work. Since many women were faced with the difficulty of complying with social and preventive isolation and at the same time either living with their aggressor or having greater difficulties due to the world situation. We were able to carry out all our work remotely and achieve our purpose of accompanying women on the path to a life free of violence.
We held the second edition of the "SAY WHAT YOU WANT" workshop. It is a fanzine workshop for women who attend our mutual aid groups. A fanzine is a small publication made by oneself.
Over the course of 7 weeks, four theoretical-practical virtual meetings were held where the search for one's own voice was worked, and the act of breaking the silence, not only inward into the safe space of the group, but also outward with the fanzine as a device.
How to stay together being separated?
It was a great challenge to adapt this project to a remote format, both for us as a team, and for the participants, who with great openness learned new tools, transcending isolation to create together.
We started a new project, we want to share from inside the work we do in groups of women victims and survivors of gender violence. They are open groups, there is movement. There are women who enter and others who graduate, while some are taking their first steps out of violence, others have already made their way, these differences are the ones that best promote learning.
Our goal is to show what is built in this space, the issues that are addressed, the path that women travel and, mainly, transmit their words.
We were invited from ELA to give a class on the first interview with women in situations of gender violence. We talked about the different reasons for the consultation, the climate of the interview, the interdisciplinary approach, what attitudes to take and what not to do, the assessment of the level of risk and how to continue care.
International online training organized by the Jewish Community of Panama, under the slogan of our campaign "I opened the exit door", where we will reflect on gender violence and the experiences of the approach in the Jewish community.
We work with adolescents on micromachisms, what they are, where they are reflected, gender stereotypes, warning signs and behaviors of control and violence that are often interpreted as signs of love; the cycle of violence and its different stages. More than 250 students participated.
The Association of Jewish Lawyers of the Argentine Republic presented the 2020 AAJRA award to Shalom Bait for his commitment to human rights, democracy and the values of the Jewish people on December 10, International Human Rights Day.
It is the first year that AAJRA presents an award to an organization, we are happy that they have chosen us, the recognition of our work is a welcome stimulus to continue moving forward.
In March of this year our director, Fernanda Tarica, was summoned by DAIA (Delegation of Israelite Associations Argentina) to integrate a team of specialists in gender violence in order to develop the 1st and only framework protocol of actions in situations of discrimination and gender violence for the institutions of the Jewish community in Argentina . Shalom Bait appears in said protocol as the reference organization in gender violence. The development of the protocol took 5 months of work and its presentation in the community is scheduled for March 8, 2021 in the framework of the commemorations for International Women's Day.
